On Saturday June 20, 2026, the Mentoring Center held our first Fundraiser since 2020. Our first annual Juneteenth Taste of Our Heritage. Board members, advisers, friends, mentors, and mentees gathered for a joyous time of fellowship and renewal.
Once again, advisers Emma Scott and Glenda Reed along with Alan and Ethan drove in from Maryland. Others also drove in from out of state. We honored 3 mentee graduates for 2026. Calvin Taylor Jr., Ethan Reed, and Calvin Taylor III.
They are all headed to college this fall. We also welcomed a new mentee, Carter Lewis.
Jamal Peoples served as the MC for the evening. We were honored with singing, a Mime presentation, games, prizes, and delicious food. We enjoyed a wonderful time, and we thank all of our guests, those present and those who were not able to make it, for their continued support.
